Curry Plant - Dwarf (Dwarf liquorice plant): Helichrysum microphyllum<br />(Helichrysum italicum microphyllum<br />Helichrysum italicum 'Nanum'<br />Helichrysum angustifolium)

This is a perennial, hardy little shrub which is grown mainly for its fragrance and ornamental value. Dwarf curry plant originates in the Mediterranean area. Its dainty silvery leaves have a hint of curry scent but nowhere near as strong as the common curry plant.

This herb prefers a well drained soil and a sunny spot, and in July and August the striking silver foliage is covered with clusters of yellow flowers which are very bee friendly and also attractive to butterflies & moths.

In the border, this is an ideal candidate for a low edging hedge as it is slow growing and low maintenance.

It also makes a taller feature to add to a rockery or gravel garden full of prostrate plants, and its silver foliage contrasts well with many other plants and flowers in the border especially purple and darker leaf specimens.

The compact growth habit makes dwarf curry perfect for growing in pots and containers, and even larger hanging baskets. It can also be used in winter containers under-planted with lemon variegated thyme and dwarf daffodils for the coming spring.
